Watched Sunrise on Channel Seven this morning, on the way to work, and they were talking about an interview one of then had with Sir Elton John. Apparently the interviewer had a great rapport with the Knighted one, and there was some almost PG rated innuendo when the bald one said they got along well didn’t they. To which the other one said something like, “Are you implying that because he is gay there is something going on” To which the bald one said something like “No, I meant in a purely platonic way”. And once again there was some PG rated agreement.(As you can tell I watch Sunrise for the Hard Hitting Issues and not the personalities)
This all left me wondering, “Can two men have a Platonic Relationship?”, indeed can two women have a platonic relationship as defined in popular culture. I think of men as blokes, mates, dudes or friends irrespective of whether they are gay not.
These are the things that conspire to keep me awake at work.
